BETS PROGRAM FOR RISING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS


BETS Program student

The Business Education for Talented Students (BETS) program introduces underrepresented rising high school seniors to all aspects of the business world. Students attend informative and exciting workshops taught by university faculty and staff, as well as team building sessions, college readiness workshops and sessions with industry leaders. These activities and the lessons learned through them help program participants complete a challenging team project and make an executive presentation to Haslam faculty and staff at the end of the program.

AIM ACADEMY For Rising High School Juniors


The Accounting and Information Management (AIM) Academy introduces underrepresented rising high school juniors to the fields of accounting and information management. Students attend workshops in accounting, finance, entrepreneurship and professional development taught by university faculty and staff. They also participate in team building sessions, college readiness workshops and sessions with industry leaders.

WEB INSTITUTE For Rising Female High School Juniors


WEB INSTITUTE students

The Women Empowered through Business (WEB) Institute introduces underrepresented rising female high school juniors to careers in the fields of business and technology. Students attend workshops that introduce them to women leaders in the fields of technology and business, coding, computer technology, entrepreneurship, personal branding, supply chain management, business analytics and professional development taught by university faculty and staff. They also participate in team building sessions, college readiness workshops and sessions with industry leaders.

SCM SUMMER CAMP For Rising High School Juniors and Seniors


The Supply Chain Management (SCM) Summer Camp introduces underrepresented rising high school juniors and seniors to the field of Supply Chain Management.

Students attend SCM sessions taught by college faculty. They also participate in interactive simulations, engage in college readiness workshops and learn from SCM professionals through local site visits to leading corporations.

OACC PROGRAMS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


Program activities include classes, executive presentations, local company visits, professional networking events, interaction with Haslam students, ACT Prep and presentations from various campus professionals (Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Undergraduate Programs and other campus partners).

Haslam faculty members and business industry leaders teach various program lessons.

There is no cost to attend Haslam Summer Business Programs. Program tuition, room and board, meals and supplies are free to participants. However, a $20 seat reservation fee is required once selected for a program.

Students are required to stay in a residence hall at UT to help them become familiar with the on-campus living environment.

Haslam administrators, faculty, staff and program peer counselors supervise student participants.

Depending on the specific program, Haslam Summer Business Programs are open to rising high school juniors (class of 2026) and seniors (class of 2025) who are members historically underrepresented groups or are first-generation college students or are eligible for free and reduced lunch.

Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, show exceptional leadership potential and have an interest in studying business.
Students must complete an application, provide a copy of a high school transcript, submit a letter of recommendation and show involvement in school- and/or community-affiliated activities.

The application opens on December 14, 2024. The application deadline is March 29, 2025. Applicants will be notified of acceptance after the deadline.
