Lean Product Development Simulation

A team from The University of Tennessee was given the task to develop a Lean Product Development Simulation for the Armed Forces.  The project was funded by ManTech and built by Aerojet, Ron Mascitelli (consultant), and The University of Tennessee.

The goal of the simulation is to teach participants about the concepts of Lean Product Development through hands-on simulations.

Such concepts included reducing product development lead time through collaboration and parallel design. Also included are all of the concepts required to allow these ideas to work together. 

However, after starting to build the simulation, we realized that the simulation could be used for so much more.  Therefore, the teaching material has been removed from the simulation so each instructor may develop new uses for the Lean Product Development Simulation.

Feel free to utilize this simulation to teach your students, co-workers, and management about the ideals of Lean Product Development through cultivation of the following products.

We have built this simulation so it would be very flexible.  You may develop a product for your industry and make it as complex or simple as you deem necessary.  We look forward to receiving input from people/companies that have utilized this simulation and have developed products of their own.
