Lean Applied to Administrative Processes (LAAP)

Lean Applied to Administrative Processes— applies lean implementation and process improvement concepts to administrative, service, and transactional processes.  The course identifies process wastes, analyzes solutions, and applies countermeasures to improve an organization’s performance in realizing its mission, goals, and strategies.

The University of Tennessee’s Center for Executive Education is the place to learn the concepts, tools and implementation of lean processes.  The latest addition to the UT Portfolio is the Lean Applied to Administrative Processes (LAAP) course. 

With quarterly offerings at the University of Tennessee designed for the leader interested in improving the bottom line and growth potential. 

Key objectives of the course include:

  • Align an organization’s performance to better achieve its stated strategy, mission, and goals;
  • Application of process improvement tools directly to administrative, service and transactional processes by
    • Identifying key administrative wastes and the constraints limiting an organization’s performance
    • Analyzing potential root causes
    • Applying the proper continuous improvement countermeasures
  • Discuss each concept in theory, through simulation activities, realistic industry application, and ultimately applied within the context of the participant’s unique organization;
  • Development of a customized Action Plan to implement improvement activities immediately upon returning to work;
  • Increase throughput, eliminate backlogs, and reduce costs (direct and indirect), improve quality and customer service, and create capacity for growth.

Facilities

Classes are held in the executive classrooms at the University of Tennessee Center for Executive Education. These facilities are designed to promote group interaction in an environment conducive to applied discussions, feedback, and the development of relational networks that frequently continue well beyond the on-campus experience.
